Android Wear 2.0 has been rolling out to a number of Android Wear smartwatches, and came pre-installed on the LG Watch Sport and Watch Style when they were announced in February, but some current AW smartwatch owners have been waiting patiently for the coveted update. The ASUS ZenWatch 3 is one of those watches that has been withheld from enjoying the new update, but that is soon to be a thing of the past.
ASUS UK replied to a Twitter commenter and told him that "It's aimed for the end of the month," in response to the commenter asking, "So...that Android Wear 2.0 rollout that @ASUSUK mentioned...wtf is it?" What this means is that ZenWatch 3 users will have to wait until the end of May to see the update rollout from the company to eligible devices. Previously, it had been proclaimed that the Android Wear 2.0 update had started rolling out to the ZenWatch 3 as early as two days ago, but the company's official response on social media shows that the company may have been a little too hasty in its statement.
Right now, only the ZenWatch 3 has been confirmed as receiving the Android Wear 2.0 update; as for when the ZenWatch 2 will get it, we're thinking a few additional weeks beyond the end of the month (perhaps June is the target month for ZenWatch 2 users). Both the ZenWatch 3 and ZenWatch 2 have made it to Google's official list of Android Wear 2.0-eligible smartwatches, and it's good to see a long-held update make its way to more devices.
So, with that said ASUS ZenWatch 3 users, you'll have to wait until month's end to get bragging rights. That may not be a bad thing, however, since you can always order the SteelConnect lug adapter for the ZenWatch 3 to add universal 22mm wristbands to your ZenWatch.
