We here at smartwatch.me hope that you had a wonderful Christmas and New Year, and we’re sure that the New Year will bring you joy, hope, and prosperity. The Apple Watch can be found at Apple retail stores, official Apple Stores, Best Buy, and even with online retailers, but one NFL team saw the arrival of the Apple Watch into a new territory it had never entered before: the locker room. Baltimore Ravens punter Sam Koch handed out Apple Watch models to his teammates as a Christmas present.
“I’m thankful of him thinking of us and showing that he appreciates us,” said Morgan Cox, a fellow teammate. Player Brynden Trawick was an Apple Watch skeptic until seeing the Apple Watch up close and personal.
The reason behind the occasion, reports sports site ESPN, is that Koch, after 10 years, has now made it to his first Pro Bowl and “[he] wanted to make that clear with gifts, which were a big hit in the locker room,” the site reports. Only players who played 8 games or more with the team received Apple Watches (only 7 players qualified for this honor). For other players, and administrators, Koch is flying them out to the Pro Bowl in Hawaii.
It seems as though the Apple Watch was an interesting present for these NFL players, with some probably never having even thought of the smartwatch as the ideal gift. At the same time, however, it makes sense: the NFL is acronymic for “National Football League,” and what way to bring a sense of nationalism and pride than with a mobile device made by American giant Apple, Inc.?
