The ASUS ZenWatch 3 is the ideal Android Wear smartwatch for some who believe that a good-looking smartwatch shouldn't cost too much, but it doesn't come without its compromises: among them, the lack of interchangeable wristbands. ASUS has designed its latest smartwatch in such a way that interchanging wristbands and customizing your watch look are near impossible, but a new Kickstarter campaign could change all that.

The campaign, being held at Kickstarter by a company called SteelConnect, promotes a lug adapter for the ASUS ZenWatch 3 called "AZ3." The AZ3 allows you to mix and match wristbands for your ZenWatch 3 to your heart's content with 22mm wristbands. It's a small adapter that goes on the watch. Just clip it on and you're good to go.
SteelConnect needed under $6,000 in order to make the Kickstarter project successful, and some companies take a chance on Kickstarter, going under because they cannot raise the money. In SteelConnect's case, though, the company has raised far more than the $5,820 they needed (they've raised $12,229 as of now, with 277 backers and 24 days remaining for the campaign. Backers have a choice of getting 1) just the AZ3 lug adapter, 2) a combo with two lug adapters of different colors, 3) the lug adapter/Remod wristband combo, or 4) the adapter bulk package containing up to 10 colors of your choice (yes, the bulk package lets you order 10 lug adapters).
The SteelConnect AZ3 is designed to help ZenWatch 3 users have a workaround that ASUS has yet to give watch wearers because the truth of it all is that wearables (the smartwatch is a wearable) should be fashionable and customized to fit one's tastes. If you want to back the effort, which now indicates that the AZ3 will become reality, head on over to the Kickstarter project below (click the image) and pledge your support.
