Pebble continues improving its Pebble Time and Pebble Time smartwatches, with the company bringing Pebble Health to its smartwatches in February, in the latest update to v. 3.12 that brings new features to what has been a rather excellent experience for Pebble customers. The newest firmware update brings auto walk and run tracking, Smart Alarms, and quick text messaging replies on the wrist for iPhone owners (with conditions).
Auto-detection for walks and runs ensures that your exercise is tracked so that you need not worry about missing it. It's a great feature for the absent-minded. Some days, even when we work out, we're not thinking like an athlete (especially if we feel that our bodies are awake but our minds are still asleep). Smart Alarms have been added, letting you set your smartwatch to alert you 30 minutes ahead of time to slowly wake you up so that you don't miss your alarm time. This "slow nudging" out of sleep is important, particularly since the longer many of us sleep, the deeper the sleep cycle.
Pebble firmware v.3.12 brings quick text messaging reply capabilities for iPhone owners, but Pebble says that you'll need to have your carrier enable support for this feature (in other words, it's not automatic and available immediately after the download unless your carrier has enabled it already). Verizon iPhones now have text messaging support for their Pebble smartwatches, but if you're not a Verizon customer, you'll have to check with your carrier.
If you are ready to dive into Pebble's new software, then go ahead and head into your Pebble app and hit that update button. Then, come back here and let us know you got the update. You can check out more information about the update at either the Google Play Store, App Store (iOS), and Pebble's own website in the link above. And be sure to remind your mother, wife, sister, or adult daughter that she now has expanded capabilities for her Pebble Time Round Special Edition smartwatch.
