Smartwatch.me is a community blog for wearable tech
"Anyone from around the world can join our blog and become an editor — submitting articles and contributing unique content to be featured on the main page."
More than ever, the world has realized that the sharing and crowd sourcing phenomenon is very much alive and real. The internet along with technology has enabled people from around the world access to information and knowledge at an unprecedented pace. When we created this site we wanted to keep true to this spirit and create a blog that is decentralized from editors, giving smartwatch owners around the world a place to freely discuss, share knowledge, find ways to customize and get more from their smartwatch.
Join us in the next wave of personal computing
In it’s purest form, a smartwatch is really just a tiny computer that people are wearing on their wrist. Yet the concept that such a small device packed with sensors can be worn on the wrist and always a glance away is creating a bright future for improving people's health and providing convenience with everyday tasks. Just as smartphones did not rise until the release of better design, higher quality hardware, and plenty of useful apps with new forms of communication — there is an endless amount of potential for the smartwatch. It’s clear that many are yet to be discovered by engineers and entrepreneurs.

So how does this site work?
First, the site is made to be simple to use. The tiles you see at the top of the homepage are automatically generated from the topics in the community. They automatically pull the topic, username along with a thumbnail from the first image found in post.
The most popular topics with the most activity will typically stay featured in the tiles longer. Moderators and staff also have the ability to "pin" featured news, guides, how-to's and useful information so they stay in the tiles.
You'll start to notice many features that make our site very easy to use. For example, you can type your reply while you continue to read, altering your reply and adding new quotes from others as you explore the topic! You can even jump around to other topics. The topic or response you're working on is always saved, even if you finish on a different computer.
What's under the hood?
Smartwatch.me is powered by Discourse, an open source message board. Discourse was created to re-imagine how forums should look and work and we think they have done a good job at it. We have also started customizing Discourse in order to enhance the look and feel.
If you're interested in starting your own forum or website built on Discourse, we recommend checking out DiscourseHosting for one-click install and hosting.
