Huawei unveiled the Android Wear-powered Watch Jewel and Watch Elegant back in January, but neither has been present in the US. And yet, the Huawei Watch (men's version) has been one of the best-selling smartwatches in Android Wear outside of the Motorola Moto 360. It's price tag at $400, well above Motorola's original Moto 360 and Moto 360 Sport (both at $300), makes its popularity even more surprising and commendable.
Well, if you're a lady in line to buy a smartwatch, you'll be pleased to know that the Watch Jewel and Watch Elegant are now available for purchase in the US at retailers Best Buy, B&H Photo, and Newegg. Since Best Buy is the only one shipping these smartwatches for now, you'll get the watch at your doorstep sooner if you order through what we'd call America's best store retailer. Newegg and B&H Photo will start shipping the Huawei lady smartwatches on May 3rd, so you don't have long to wait if you choose to order through these retailers. The specs of these lady smartwatches match those of the original Huawei Watch (which Huawei calls the men's smartwatch), the exception being the designs which are more in line with feminine buyers. No doubt, Huawei intends to make the Watch Jewel and Watch Elegant part of an ongoing series for women.
The Watch Elegant is priced at $449.99 a BB and Newegg but $599.99 at B&H Photo. The Huawei Watch Jewel will cost $549.99 at Best Buy and Newegg with the price $50 more expensive at B&H Photo. B&H Photo's prices for Huawei's lady smartwatches concern getting users to shop at their online site more than just to purchase a smartwatch as part of deal. B&H Photo intends to give all buyers of Huawei watches a $50 gift card (only for lady watch buyers at the moment) that can be used at the retailer's site for future purchases.
Well, ladies, go ahead and dive in and get the smartwatch that is an expression of your personality. Though I think Huawei's started something that seems somewhat segregated, at least female customers can no longer hold on to the claim that "all current smartwatches made are designed with only the masculine customer in mind."
