We had heard rumors that Nexus 6P maker Huawei would unleash its women’s smartwatches in 2016; well, thanks to the Chinese manufacturer’s CES 2016 announcement this week, that rumor has now become reality.
Huawei’s women’s watches, the Watch Jewel and Watch Elegant, will run Android Wear (as does the first-generation Huawei Watch) and come with the same features as the first-gen. model: a sapphire crystal-covered 400 x 400 AMOLED display, quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, 512MB of RAM, and 4GB of storage. The difference in these two models, however, is that the Watch Jewel has a gold patina, blue leather strap, and 68 Swarovski crystals around the display, while the Watch Elegant has a knurling crystal pattern instead of the circular crystal pattern on the Watch Jewel. Interestingly enough, it appears as though the Watch Jewel and Watch Elegant now have 44mm casings instead of the 42mm-standard casing for the first-generation Huawei Watch.
As for pricing, we know that Huawei will price the Watch Jewel and Watch Elegant at around $400 (at least), and that these smartwatches will be available for sale in the US in March 2016 (two months from now). We’ll report back on further details as they become available.
Ladies, are you ready for one of Huawei’s new watch offerings? Are you glad to see Huawei craft smartwatches just for ladies, or do you like the regular Android Wear offerings just fine?
