Rumors of an HTC One smartwatch have surfaced before, with @evleaks haven leaked a picture of the smartwatch, but HTC decided to go the route of developing fitness wearables with company Under Armour and was planning an announcement in 2016. Now, however, the HTC smartwatch talk returns, this time from renown (and retired) leakster Evan Blass (a.k.a, evleaks). Blass wrote the following online a few days ago:
HTC fans, you’ll finally have One watch to call your own come February.
The “One watch” reference refers to the HTC One brand, which could hint that HTC will brand the circular smartwatch (of course, the circular smartwatch is the new popular smartwatch shape) the “One,” and pair it with its One M9, One A9, and other smartphones in the “One” series. From what Blass says, the One smartwatch could come in February, which is now two months away. Could it be the case that HTC looks to reveal the new smartphone (the One M10) along with the new smartwatch? If it will run Bluetooth alone, without Wi-Fi or 3G/4G cellular data, then the time seems likely.
Apart from the HTC One smartwatch, we know that it may have a 360 x 360p screen resolution, which fits the normal resolution for most Android smartwatches. Whether or not it will run Android Wear is anyone’s guess, but considering the fact that HTC doesn’t have its own OS developed, Android Wear is our best bet.
Are you excited about the HTC One smartwatch? What do you expect to see from it when it’s announced in February 2016? Would you like a Bluetooth-only model, or are 3G-connected models more of your speed?
