The Gear S3 Frontier and Gear S3 Classic are the top smartwatches on the mobile market (except for the Apple Watch) today, and these devices are having success in the wearables market. How successful are they? They're so successful that Samsung's Tizen platform just overtook Android Wear in market share for Q1 2017. You're not alone if you love the Gear S3.
The Gear S3 Frontier has been selling for those who want a ruggedized smartwatch, but rugged smartwatches don't have to always look like they're fighting a battle. The Gear S3 Classic is designed to give a more formal look to those who believe that a smartwatch should always look formal, no matter how rugged it may be. Samsung's answer to this request is the Gear S3 Classic, trademarked in August 2016 and announced the following month.
To this end, AT&T is now selling the Gear S3 Classic at its retail stores. The Gear S3 Classic has a smaller footprint than the rugged Gear S3 Frontier, but this makes sense. Still, the circular Super AMOLED panel, 768MB of RAM, 380mAh battery, scratch-resistant Gorilla Glass SR+, 4GB of storage, and the Tizen wearables platform remain unchanged. The Gear S3 Classic costs $349.99 outright, or $17.50 a month for two months. On a two-year contract, expect to pay $249.99. If you intend to purchase the Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8+, you can purchase either the Gear S3 Classic (or Gear S3 Frontier) from AT&T for just $49.99 - a pretty sweet deal if you ask me.
Samsung's success with the Gear S2 and now Gear S3 even have Samsung's truest rival, Apple, considering circular displays. Go ahead: head on over to AT&T retail stores and take advantage of this offer. Let us know if you've purchased the Gear S3 Classic and tell us a little of why you love it.
