We don't know when or how, but we do know that Samsung has said it is interested in bringing iOS integration (or iPhone integration) to its Gear S2 smartwatch. We still don't have a timetable as to when the Korean giant expects to complete its agenda, but we know that iPhone integration is on its way. How do we know? New screenshots have leaked that show the unthinkable is coming true.
These screenshots leaked, courtesy of a member over at the XDA Forum, who showed a screenshot with the Gear S2 manager app icon at the top of his main iPhone screen. The Mail, Chrome, and Calendar icons, as well as the white dots at the top of the device to the left of the carrier, not to mention the battery and Bluetooth icons, all hint to the fact that the phone in question is an iPhone. "iCaller" is a dead giveaway, in case you didn't know.
The other screenshots are the typical directions you've experienced when pairing your Gear S2 with your Android smartphone. Of course, they're in French, but having taken several French courses in college, I can tell you that there's nothing new or of note here. The instructions simply talk about how to pair your iPhone and Gear S2 via Bluetooth, and that you'll utilize 3G cellular data here, not 4G for some reason. You can see the screenshots below.
Samsung hasn't leaked these screenshots, but someone close to the Korean giant has. Samsung may even have a few folks in hiding testing the upcoming iPhone integration for the Gear S2, but only time will tell if this is the case. For now, though, get ready to see the unthinkable: you may be able to pair your iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus with the Gear S2. Apple will have a hard time swallowing this, but I happen to think Samsung will consider this to be another excellent strategy in its mobile campaign.
Are you excited about iPhone integration with the Gear S2? Ready to pair your iPhone and the Gear S2? Will this encourage you to go ahead and purchase Samsung's circular smartwatch, or do you find the Apple Watch to be the better buy here?
