The Fossil Q Marshal and Q Wander, Fossil's latest Android Wear smartwatches, were announced in March and went up for pre-order in mid-August. Now, though, the veil has been lifted and the Q Wander and Q Marshal are now on sale in the US, with a price range of $275 and $315.
The Q Marshal (for men) and the Q Wander (for women) continue a trend of designating men's and women's smartwatches, with women getting more "bling" and fashion with theirs as opposed to more ruggedized smartwatches for men. The Q Marshal and Q Wander come with smaller batteries than the Q Founder (known for its infamous black tire): 360mAh batteries as opposed to the Q Founder's 400mAh battery, not to mention their 45mm casing as opposed to the 47mm casing of the Q Founder. Perhaps the Marshal and Wander are designed to fit more comfortably than the larger Q Founder.
Buyers are still looking at iPhone compatibility (which Fossil wants you to never forget), 4GB of internal storage (as is the case with most high-end smartwatches currently), Bluetooth Low Energy (LE), 802.1l a/b/g/n WiFi, with IP67 water and dust resistance, interchangeable 22mm wristband compatibility and compatibility with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean devices and up (even to Marshmallow and soon Android Nougat) and iPhones as early as the 2012 iPhone 5 running iOS 8 and higher.
The Fossil Q Marshal and Q Wander do feature the same black bar (a.k.a. "flat tire") at the bottom of the watch display as the Q Founder, something we think you should keep in mind when ordering these. Apart from the usual specs and the fact that no smartwatch or fitness band is perfect -- even Michael Kors struggles with a 100% perfect circular display -- go right ahead and dive in here.
Are you picking up the Q Marshal or Q Wander? Do you believe these pose serious competition to the Huawei Watch and the Huawei Watch Elegant and Watch Jewel in the US?
