The ASUS ZenWatch 3 Android Wear 2.0 update, promised as part of Google's eligibility list months ago, has been something of a hide-and-seek situation. We reported in May that the smartwatch would receive the latest Android Wear 2.0 update by month's end, but the ZenWatch 3 did not, unfortunately. It has been delayed some in the last few weeks but was said to be ready for release this week. And finally, after all the false hype, the ZenWatch 3 Android Wear 2.0 update has landed.
ZenWatch 3 users have started sharing their experiences online, with one ZenWatch 3 user saying that ASUS has removed all "bloatware" from his smartwatch and extended the battery life of the device by several days. Even with the good news, however, the ZenWatch 3 lacks NFC, so don't expect Android Pay payments with the wrist wearable.
While everything in life comes with the bitter and the sweet, it's good to see that the company has finally decided to roll out the update that many have been waiting for. Unfortunately, Android Wear 2.0 may be all that ZenWatch 3 users get, as ASUS may be pulling the plug on its smartwatch lineup altogether.
ZenWatch 3 users, go ahead and download the new system update. Let us know if you approve of the changes and see any impact upon battery life.
