Asus ZenWatch 2 owners, one of your favorite days has arrived! Asus is now pushing an update to your smartwatch that brings an improved display, improved Bluetooth pairing, sleep tracking, and a new security patch to protect your watch's Android Wear OS from being at risk and vulnerable to malware, viruses, and more.
The build number for this Asus ZenWatch 2 update is MWD59 or MWD48B software version (depending on which Asus ZenWatch you have) and it brings improvements to the display quality as well as Bluetooth pairing. What this means is that your ZenWatch 2 should now have a more appealing display, with a more calibrated brightness, as well as progress with pairing your phone with your smartwatch. Bluetooth problems are common with smartwatch (and smartphone) updates, so Asus is looking out for customer satisfaction here. The improved sleep tracking involves how well your smartwatch tracks and records your sleep data, so it's becoming even more reliable for those who are curious to know just how well (or not) they sleep at night.
One feature worth noting with this small Asus ZenWatch 2 update concerns the May 2016 security patch that it is receiving. Now, keep in mind that the security patch for your ZenWatch is still one month behind, and with June soon coming to a close, you might as well count a second month behind in the security updates race. No smartphone user would celebrate a security patch that's two months overdue, so we wouldn't advise you to celebrate the May 2016 patch. If nothing else, look at this update as an indication that Asus is still giving product support to its smartwatches. A number of high-end 2016 smartphones already have the June 2016 security patch, and it won't be long before 2015 Android Wear watches start receiving it, too. And, there's always this one fact: the ZenWatch 2 will receive Android Wear 2.0 with its virtual on-screen keyboard and customizable watchfaces that let you add the notifications you want on your wrist. Pretty cool, huh?
