Apple is on something of a price reduction campaign these days. The company is starting to hide the Apple Watch Edition within stores (the $10,000-$18,000 Apple Watch), and has even discounted the price of the Apple Watch Sport, the entry-level smartwatch, from $349 down to $299 (the company made this known at its iPhone SE announcement last week). Now, the fruit company is discounting the out-of-warranty Apple Watch Sport repair price from $229 to $199.
As is always the case, Apple's price reductions are usually small in extent, and a $30 price drop on a plan that still costs $200 doesn't seem like much of a price drop. Most phone deductibles at the time of repair will cost around $199, so the Apple Watch Sport out-of-warranty repair price will cost the same as a deductible on a smartphone that needs repair. The Apple Watch Sport doesn't have full-fledged smartphone functionality, so some consumers may deem the price to be way too high for a device that has a screen less than half the size of the 4-inch iPhone SE.
At any rate, we're sure that some will be glad to know that Apple is dropping its prices in some fashion, even if these new prices could use further price reductions. Hopefully, Apple Watch Sport customers won't have to worry about their smartwatch with out-of-warranty repair plans because they'll have a new Apple Watch Sport by then.
