The Apple Watch is a device that’s more mobile than any smartphone you’ve ever owned, and that’s a good thing: after all, greater mobility allows consumers to live their lives even more freely without the restrictions that less mobile hardware place upon us. One of the latest Apple Watch promos shows that timing is everything.
A musician is playing a piano in the promo, while bidding on one via eBay. He manages to place his bid and secure the piano as his, all while continuing to play the keys as though he hasn’t missed a note at all. The Apple Watch allows the musician to have internet connectivity so close to him that he doesn’t need to pull out his phone, type in a PIN/password/fingerprint to bypass the lock screen, then click on an app, let it open up, and find his way to the piano bid. Instead, the musician just tapped on his wrist and secured the bid.
The Apple Watch promo message is a play on statements
The phrase “timing is everything” is a statement we hear all the time. It means that there is a set window of opportunity within a given day, month, or timeframe in which to do something, reach a goal, or tell someone you feel about them (in the case of romantics). Yes, getting the time right with goals in life, or relationships, is a big part of how to live life best. If you let opportunities pass you buy, you just may never get another chance to take care of that one thing you needed to do.
At the same time, however, the Apple Watch commercial is sending another message: that is, that “timing” (the Apple Watch being time-centered on the wrist) is everything. That is, that the Apple Watch is the device you want. Apple is hoping to continue the positive trend its smartwatches have had. Best Buy customers would agree.
Timing can be everything, but is the Apple Watch everything for you? Do you need it, want it, or both? That’s a question that only you can answer, but we’ve got to admit, the commercial is one of the best on the Apple Watch we’ve seen so far. When you watch the Apple Watch – Play promo, make sure you do so before time runs out.
