Yes, today is the day of the Apple Watch 2 unveil, and we here at Smartwatch.me love bringing you the latest on smartwatches. Well, some folks may not be able to see the announcement (and some may have other pressing priorities), but that hasn't stopped some leaksters in the wild from bringing the best knowledge to us. Today's leak comes from a UK repair company called Byte that specializes in smartwatch repair (yes, they're one of the only repair companies worldwide that fixes broken and damaged Apple Watches). Byte has received a shipment with the new Apple Watch 2 parts inside, and they are kind enough to show them to any curious "Georges."
First, there is the LCD and touch screen digitizer. Byte says that the LCD and digitizer are thinner than the first-generation Apple Watch components. This matches the rumor that Apple would employ a One Glass Solution by merging two thin glass panels into one and give the Apple Watch 2 a 40% thinner body than the previous-generation model. Apple has reworked and added new chips to the digitizer, which tells us that it's quite probable at this point that in-built GPS and an updated processor are part of the package deal for the Apple Watch 2.
Next, Apple has made the Force Touch Gasket shorter and less wide than that of the first-gen. Apple Watch. Apple is no stranger to thinning parts, but we can better understand all the "thinner and lighter" design when we look at the battery. The first-generation Apple Watch had a 0.94 Watt-hour battery, but the new Apple Watch 2 will have a 1.28 Watt-hour (Wh) battery, confirming the 246mAh battery of the first model and adding only 88mAh to the second-gen. watch's battery (334mAh).
These are all the parts that can be seen, and Byte places the Apple Watch 2 components (on the left) with the first-gen. Apple Watch parts on the right for a valid comparison. We provide screenshots up-close for those who may not be able to view them adequately on a mobile phone or simply think the video doesn't zoom in long enough.

Well, the Apple Watch 2 is about 7 hours away from being revealed. Excited yet?
