The Fossil Q Founder smartwatch is now at the Google Store and is no longer “coming soon,” as we reported on some days ago. There is an interesting turn of events for this watch, however: the price said $275, but we have new information leading us to believe that there will be two Fossil Q Founder versions – and two prices.
The Fossil Q Founder at the Google Store that sports a metal band will cost $295, while there is a leather band model on the way that will retail for $275. Regardless of which band-based model you pick up, whether metal or leather, you’ll get the same specs and features: a 400mAh battery, IP67 water and dust resistance, 4GB of memory, a 1.5-inch circular display, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, and, of course, Android Wear. Since Google has now opened up Android Wear to have iOS compatibility, the Fossil Q Founder will work with Android smartphones that run Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and higher or iPhones 5 and up running iOS 8.2 or higher.
The Fossil Q Founder stands out because of its three types of notifications. Of those three types, one, named “Q” (hence the “Q” in “Fossil Q Founder”), pertains to your curiosity to try new activities in order to enhance your workout schedule and keep you from getting bored with your routine. New Year’s Eve tends to bring a desire in consumers to work off calories and lose weight in the New Year, but the routine drags us down and eventually loses our attention because we get bored. Hopefully, Fossil’s curiosity notifications will prevent that. At the very least, it’s a creative idea that has us intrigued.
The only question remaining is, which band model will you buy?
