It's likely the case that if you've been keeping an eye on the smartwatch scene, you've heard of the Huawei Watch. It's Huawei's Android Wear offering for men, though the Chinese manufacturer has stirred waves by launching smartwatch collections in Google's wearables platform for women (the Watch Elegant and Watch Jewel, they're called).
The Chinese manufacturer recently unveiled the PMOLED display, TalkBand B3 that has gone on sale in Europe but has yet to arrive in the US. And yet, the TalkBand B3 may be replaced by a new device that's so budget-friendly it just might catch your eye. The new device in question is called the Huawei Honor Band A1, and its price is between $15 and $30.
The Honor Band A1 comes with silicon and leather bands and operates as a fitness tracker with the expected sleep tracking, calories burned, distance traveled, and other exercise-related functions. One unique feature of the Honor Band A1 is that it comes with a UV ray sensor so as to help the user decide whether or not to use sunscreen or avoid the sun altogether on the hottest and harshest of days.
Weighing in at only 20 grams, the Honor Band A1 features a 70mAh battery that provides up to 28 days on standby but has a microUSB port when the time comes to juice up the device. The Huawei Honor Band A1 features Bluetooth 4.2 (which is the latest in Bluetooth Low Energy, or BLE technology), meaning that it should connect to your phone without destroying the fitness tracker's battery life.
If you know of someone who lives in China, or are a China resident yourself, you'll be pleased to know that the Honor Band A1 is now available for pre-order in the country, with China selling the device on Wednesday, May 25th. Whether or not you pay the high price ($30) or the lower price ($15) for this device depends on the wristband materials you want. Huawei may bring this device to the US, but we have no word on that for now.
Would you pick up the Honor Band A1 if it came to the US? Are you a China resident who's pre-ordered your Honor Band A1? If so, feel free to let us know your thoughts.
